Cookie Policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used by our website, carique.co.uk, by your account, and by our emails. Last updated 22 October 2026.

1. What cookies are

1.1 Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser so it can recognise your browser when you come back to it, for example to keep you signed in. Browsers can also store information for a website in similar ways, such as "session storage" and "local storage".

2. Essential cookies

2.1 We use two kinds of cookies: essential cookies, which the website and your account need to work (this section), and analytics cookies, which count visits to our website and which you can switch off (section 3). We do not use cookies for advertising or social media.

2.2 Our essential cookies are set for carique.co.uk and its sub-domains, so the same cookies work across the website, your account and the systems behind them. They are:

  • carique-session: keeps your visit working from one page to the next, including keeping you signed in while you use your account. It is set when you send an enquiry, register, sign in or reset your password, and expires 2 hours after you last use the website or your account.
  • XSRF-TOKEN: a security cookie that stops other websites sending forms to us in your name. It is set at the same times as the session cookie and expires 2 hours after you last use the website or your account.
  • remember_web_ followed by a code: set only if you tick "Keep me signed in" when you sign in. It keeps you signed in on that device until you sign out, or for up to 400 days. Do not tick the box on a shared or public device.

2.3 We also use your browser's session storage, under the name carique-toasts, to carry a short on-screen message, such as "Saved", from one page to the next. It is deleted as soon as the message has been shown, and in any case when you close the tab.

2.4 Our website remembers your cookie settings in your browser's local storage, under the name carique-cookie-choice, so that it does not show you the cookie message on every page. It stays on your device and is never sent to us. The message is shown again after a year.

2.5 Because these cookies and this storage are needed for the website and your account to work, they are always on. If you block them in your browser, the enquiry form, registering and signing in will not work.

3. Analytics cookies

3.1 We use Google Analytics to count visits to our website and see which pages are useful: for example how many people visit, which pages they look at and for how long, how they found us (such as a search engine or a link on another website), the general area they are in (their town or country, not an exact location), and the type of device and browser they use. It shows us these as totals, which we use only to improve our website. It does not tell us who you are.

3.2 The law allows cookies used only to produce statistics that help us improve our website without asking first, as long as we tell you about them and you can switch them off. So analytics is on unless you switch it off, and the first time you visit, our website shows a cookie message where you can do that. Your account and the pages for signing in and registering never use analytics.

3.3 Google Analytics sets these cookies for carique.co.uk:

  • _ga: tells one visitor's browser apart from another's, using a random number, so that each visitor is counted once. It expires after 2 years.
  • _ga_ followed by a code: keeps track of the current visit, such as which page came first. It expires after 2 years.

3.4 Google provides this service to us and receives information about your visit, including your IP address, which it uses to work out your general area and does not keep. We have turned off Google's advertising features and its use of our analytics information for its own purposes, so the information is not used to show you adverts, linked to your Google account or shared for anyone else's use. Google may handle the information outside the UK, under the safeguards described in our Privacy Notice.

3.5 To switch analytics off, use Cookie settings at the foot of any page of our website and turn off Analytics. We then delete the analytics cookies from your browser and no more information is sent. You can switch it back on the same way.

4. Other services

4.1 Card payments. When you pay by card online, you leave our website for our card payment provider's secure page. The provider uses its own cookies there, for example to keep the payment secure and prevent fraud, under its own cookie policy.

4.2 Typefaces. Our typefaces are served from our own website, not fetched from anyone else.

4.3 Videos. If a page of our website shows a video, nothing is loaded from the video service until you press play. The video service may then store information on your device, under its own policy. Pressing play is your choice to do that.

5. Our emails

5.1 Our emails contain no tracking images and no tracked links, so we cannot see whether you open them or click the links in them. Our email service tells us only whether each email was delivered, as our Privacy Notice explains.

6. Controlling cookies

6.1 You can switch analytics cookies on or off with Cookie settings at the foot of every page of our website.

6.2 You can also see, block and delete cookies in your browser's settings. Deleting our essential cookies signs you out, and blocking them stops the enquiry form, registering and signing in from working. Blocking analytics cookies makes no difference to how the website works.

7. Changes to this policy

7.1 If we change the cookies we use, we will update this policy, and if we ever want to use cookies for anything other than making the website work and counting visits, such as advertising, we will ask for your consent first. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
