Vehicle Sales Terms
These terms apply when you buy a vehicle from Carique Ltd. Please read them before you agree to buy. Last updated 19 October 2026.
1. About us and these terms
1.1 We are Carique Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15803929. Our registered office and premises are at Unit 2, Station Lane, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1ND. You can contact us by messaging 07356 177303, by email to [email protected], or by writing to that address. Our number is a mobile: please message rather than call.
1.2 These terms apply to every vehicle we sell. The Vehicle Sales Warranty that comes with a vehicle we sell, unless it is sold as seen (section 10), is set out in its own document. Any work we carry out on a vehicle after you have bought it is covered by our Terms and Conditions. How we use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Notice.
1.3 If you buy in the name of a business, or pay from a business's account, you are a business buyer, and the clauses for business buyers apply as well.
1.4 You must be 18 or over to buy a vehicle from us.
1.5 The version of these terms on our website when the sale is made applies to it. We may change these terms for future sales.
2. Our listings and descriptions
2.1 A vehicle shown on our website or elsewhere is an invitation to come and view it, not an offer to sell it. It may be sold before the listing is taken down. A vehicle marked reserved is not available to anyone else while the reservation lasts.
2.2 Descriptions, photographs, specifications and lists of equipment are a guide only. Specifications and equipment are taken from the manufacturer's information for the model and can vary from one vehicle to another. Check the vehicle, and anything that matters to you, when you view it: you buy the vehicle you have seen.
2.3 Any faults we know of are listed on the sale confirmation, with anything we have agreed to put right before you collect the vehicle. By signing it you accept the vehicle with the faults listed.
2.4 The mileage shown is the reading on the odometer. We do not guarantee that it is correct unless the sale confirmation says it has been verified.
2.5 The price is the price shown, unless we agree a different price with you in writing. We are not registered for VAT at the moment, so our prices do not include VAT.
2.6 We do not offer finance, and we do not arrange it or introduce anyone to a lender.
2.7 Any insurance write-off category we know of is shown on the sale confirmation.
3. Viewing, test drives and inspection
3.1 We only sell a vehicle to someone who has viewed it in person at our premises. We do not sell vehicles by phone, message, email or online. Viewings and test drives are by appointment.
3.2 To test drive a vehicle you must hold a full driving licence, show it to us, and meet the conditions of our insurance, which we tell you before the drive. We may ask for proof of your address. We take a copy of your licence and of any proof of address, and keep them as our Privacy Notice explains, so that we can deal with any fine, penalty, charge or damage from the drive. We decide whether a test drive can go ahead, its route and its length, and one of our staff may come with you.
3.3 During a test drive you must drive carefully and within the law. You are responsible for any fine, penalty or charge incurred while you are driving, and for any damage caused by your driving, except to the extent our insurance covers it. Tell us straight away about any incident, however small.
3.4 Checking a vehicle before you buy it is your responsibility. You can have it inspected by someone of your choosing, at your own cost, at our premises by appointment. If you choose not to, you buy it on the strength of your own viewing.
4. Reserving a vehicle
4.1 We only reserve a vehicle if we agree to in writing, for the period we agree. We may ask for a holding deposit to reserve it. The holding deposit comes off the price when you buy.
4.2 If we cannot sell you the vehicle as agreed, we refund the holding deposit.
4.3 If you decide not to buy, or a sale has not been agreed by the end of the reservation, the holding deposit is not refunded and the vehicle is available to others again.
5. Agreeing to buy
5.1 A contract for the sale is made only when we both sign the sale confirmation at our premises, after you have viewed the vehicle. Until then either of us can change our mind, and section 4 applies to any holding deposit. The confirmation sets out: the vehicle, its registration and VIN; the price and how it is paid; any part exchange and its value; any faults we know of; anything we have agreed to do to the vehicle before you collect it; the collection date; and whether the vehicle comes with the Vehicle Sales Warranty or is sold as seen. By signing it you confirm that you have viewed the vehicle and read these terms and, where it applies, the Vehicle Sales Warranty.
5.2 If we have agreed to carry out work on the vehicle before you collect it, we do it before handover, and we tell you if that changes the collection date. If we cannot do it, we may cancel the sale and refund what you have paid.
6. Part exchange: your vehicle given to us
6.1 We may take a vehicle in part exchange. We value it on the information you give us and on our inspection, and agree the value with you before the sale.
6.2 By offering a vehicle in part exchange you confirm that it is yours to sell, or that you have the owner's authority to sell it; that it is the vehicle its V5C describes; and that you have told us about any outstanding finance on it, any accident damage, faults you know of, and anything that affects its mileage, history or value. We may check its history before we agree a value.
6.3 If there is finance outstanding, we may, with your agreement, pay it off from the part exchange value. If the amount needed to pay it off is more than the part exchange value, you pay us the difference as part of the price.
6.4 You must hand the part exchange vehicle over in the same condition as when we valued it, with its keys, V5C, service history and anything else we agreed. If it is not in the same condition, or something you told us about it turns out to be wrong, we may change the value or withdraw from the part exchange; if we withdraw, you can withdraw from buying our vehicle and we refund what you have paid us.
6.5 The part exchange vehicle becomes ours when you hand it over and any finance on it has been paid off. Remove your belongings before then; we are not responsible for items left in it. If it has a private registration number you want to keep, transfer or retain it through the DVLA before you hand the vehicle over: once the vehicle is ours, so is the registration number on it. We complete the DVLA notification for the part exchange with you at handover. Cancel its tax and insurance yourself.
6.6 If, after handover, it turns out that the part exchange vehicle was not yours to sell, had finance owed on it that you did not tell us about, was stolen, is not the vehicle its V5C describes, or had a fault or history you knew about and did not tell us, you must pay us the loss this causes us, such as the part exchange value we allowed you, money we pay to settle finance on it, and the cost of recovering or returning it.
7. Paying
7.1 You can pay by bank transfer, by card or in cash. We do not accept cash above the limit we tell you when you agree to buy, counting together every cash payment towards the same vehicle, including any holding deposit. We may refuse a payment, or ask where the money has come from, to meet our anti money laundering obligations.
7.2 We hand the vehicle over once the full price has reached our bank account in cleared funds. A screenshot, a confirmation from your bank's app, or a message saying money has been sent is not cleared funds.
7.3 For bank transfers we give you our bank details in person or by message from 07356 177303. We will never change our bank details by email. If you are told our details have changed, check with us in person or by message before you pay.
7.4 Paying in instalments is possible only if we agree to it, under a separate written split payment agreement signed by both of us. It is an interest free arrangement made directly with us: no interest, fees or charges are added, no finance company is involved and, unless you are buying as a limited company or limited liability partnership, it is limited to 12 payments with the last one due within 12 months of signing.
7.5 If we agree that you can pay for a vehicle in instalments, the vehicle stays with us, at our risk, until the last payment has reached us in cleared funds. You collect it, and it becomes yours, once everything is paid. If you decide not to go ahead, or a payment is more than 14 days late and is still unpaid 14 days after we write to you about it, we may end the agreement by telling you in writing. We then refund what you have paid, less the costs we have had because of the agreement, which we list for you, and the vehicle is free to sell to someone else.
7.6 If a payment is reversed, recalled or charged back without a valid reason, the amount is owed again straight away, and we may recover the vehicle or the money owed, through the courts if necessary.
8. Collecting your vehicle
8.1 You collect the vehicle from our premises on the day we agree. We do not offer delivery.
8.2 At handover we give you the keys (we tell you before you buy how many come with the vehicle), the V5C new keeper details, and the service history and other documents we have for it. We notify the DVLA of the change of keeper with you.
8.3 The vehicle becomes yours when you have paid for it in full in cleared funds that have not been reversed. It is your responsibility from when you collect it or, if you have not collected it by the agreed collection date, from that date. For the Vehicle Sales Warranty, the date of sale is the day you collect the vehicle.
8.4 Vehicle tax does not transfer to a new keeper. You must tax and insure the vehicle before you drive it away.
8.5 Check the vehicle when you collect it. By taking it away you confirm that it is as agreed.
8.6 If, after the sale is agreed and before you collect it, the vehicle is damaged or develops a fault, we may put it right before handover or cancel the sale and refund what you have paid.
8.7 If you do not collect the vehicle on the agreed collection date, the storage charges and the rules for uncollected vehicles in section 13 of our Terms and Conditions apply to it, as if it had been left with us for work and we had told you on that date that it was ready to collect.
8.8 If you do not live in the UK, tell us before you agree to buy. We agree with you how the change of keeper will be recorded with the DVLA. The Vehicle Sales Warranty applies only while the vehicle is in the UK.
9. After you have collected the vehicle
9.1 If you think something is wrong with the vehicle, tell us in writing straight away and stop driving it. Let us inspect it at our premises before anyone else works on it. We do not pay for work carried out elsewhere, or for recovery, hire, travel or any other costs.
9.2 A used vehicle shows wear for its age and mileage. That wear, and any fault listed on the sale confirmation, is not a fault in the vehicle we sold you.
9.3 The Vehicle Sales Warranty, where the sale confirmation says the vehicle comes with it, sets out the only cover we give and how to claim. Repairs under it are carried out by us.
9.4 We are not responsible for damage caused after you collect the vehicle by an accident, misuse, neglect, modifications or work by someone else, or for damage caused by carrying on driving after a fault has appeared.
10. Part-exchange vehicles we sell
10.1 Some vehicles we sell came to us in part exchange. The listing and the sale confirmation say so.
10.2 A part-exchange vehicle is sold as seen, in the condition you find it. We do not prepare, service or inspect it for sale. It comes with no Vehicle Sales Warranty, and with no other warranty or promise from us about its condition, history or mileage beyond what the sale confirmation states.
10.3 Checking a part-exchange vehicle before you buy it is your responsibility: view it, test drive it and have it inspected if you wish (section 3). Its condition, and any fault it has or develops after you buy it, are your responsibility.
11. Refunds
11.1 If we agree to take a vehicle back, it must be returned to our premises with its keys, the V5C logbook if it has reached you, the service book and everything else that came with it. We deduct the cost of anything missing or damaged.
11.2 We pay a refund by bank transfer to an account in the buyer's name, using the details given on our Refund details form. If you part exchanged a vehicle, we pay you its agreed part exchange value instead of returning it.
11.3 If you borrowed money to buy the vehicle, any loan is between you and your lender, and you remain responsible for it.
12. Our responsibility
12.1 We are not liable for loss of use of the vehicle, hire vehicles, travel, loss of earnings, profit, business or opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss.
12.2 Our total liability to you in connection with a vehicle you buy from us is limited to the price you paid for it.
12.3 If you are a business buyer, the vehicle is sold as seen and on the basis of your own inspection, without any warranty and without any terms about its quality, fitness for purpose or description, and we have no liability to you for its condition.
12.4 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded.
13. Complaints, the law and other important terms
13.1 If you are unhappy with anything, please tell us. Our Complaints page explains how we deal with it.
13.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them.
13.3 If a court decides that part of these terms is unlawful or cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not insist on something straight away, we can still enforce it later. Nobody other than you and us has any rights under this contract.
13.4 Where these terms say something must be in writing, that includes email and messages.
13.5 These terms are in English, and we communicate with you in English.
