Terms and Conditions
These terms are the agreement between you and Carique Ltd for any work we carry out on your vehicle, and for your use of your Carique account. Please read them before you accept an estimate. Last updated 19 October 2026.
1. About us and these terms
1.1 We are Carique Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15803929. Our registered office and workshop are at Unit 2, Station Lane, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1ND. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean Carique Ltd.
1.2 You can contact us by messaging 07356 177303, by email to [email protected], through your account at carique.co.uk, or by writing to the address above. Our number is a mobile: please message rather than call.
1.3 These terms apply to all work we carry out on a vehicle: servicing, repairs, diagnostics, inspections and health checks, tyres, air conditioning, batteries, car keys, remapping, and ECU and module repairs. They also apply to your use of your account. "You" means the person or business we agree the work with.
1.4 Some things are covered elsewhere:
- buying a vehicle from us is covered by our Vehicle Sales Terms, and the warranty that comes with some of the vehicles we sell by our Vehicle Sales Warranty;
- using our website is covered by our Website Terms;
- how we use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Notice and Cookie Policy;
- how to make a complaint is set out in our Complaints page.
1.5 Anything written on an estimate for a particular job (for example a note or terms specific to that job) applies to that job as well as these terms. If the two disagree, what is written on the estimate applies. Nothing else, such as descriptions on our website, in advertising or on social media, or anything said in conversation, changes these terms or forms part of our agreement unless we confirm it in writing.
1.6 Where a clause applies only to business customers, it says so.
1.7 We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown on this page when you accept work applies to that work, and when you accept online we keep a copy of the version you agreed to. A change does not apply to work you have already accepted. The date at the top shows when these terms were last updated.
2. Your account
2.1 You can ask us for prices, accept estimates, pay, book in and follow work through your account at carique.co.uk. You must be 18 or over to open an account or to ask us to carry out work.
2.2 The details you give us must be true, complete and kept up to date, in particular your name, email address, mobile number and billing address. We send messages about your work to the email address and mobile number on your account and to your account itself, and a message counts as received when we send it. A letter counts as received when it would arrive in the ordinary course of post.
2.3 Keep your password private and do not let anyone else sign in as you: each person on a business account needs their own sign-in. Anything done in your account is treated as done by you. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has used it.
2.4 A business account belongs to the business named on it. The person who opens it confirms that they are authorised to agree work and payments for that business. If the business named is not a company or other organisation that can make contracts in its own name, or does not exist, the person who opened the account is personally responsible for what is owed on it. People on a business account have one of three roles:
- an owner can do everything, including inviting people and choosing what they can do;
- a manager can see prices, accept estimates and pay;
- an employee can add vehicles, ask for prices, follow work and book vehicles in, but cannot see prices, accept work or pay.
Anything an owner or manager accepts or pays, and any booking anyone on the account makes, binds the business. The business is responsible for who it invites, and must remove anyone who should no longer act for it.
2.5 By adding a vehicle or asking us to work on one, you confirm that you own it, or have the permission of its owner and of any finance or leasing company with an interest in it, to have the work done and to agree to these terms. You are responsible for paying for work you accept whether or not you own the vehicle. If you did not have that permission, you are also responsible for any loss we suffer because of it, for example if the owner takes the vehicle from us before we have been paid.
2.6 Photos, videos, files and messages you send us must be yours to send. You allow us to use them to price, carry out and record the work. Do not send anything unlawful or anything that belongs to someone else without their permission.
2.7 To help you, our staff can view your account as you see it. We record when they do.
2.8 You can ask us to close your account at any time by message or email. We close it once nothing is outstanding on it. We keep the records we need to, as our Privacy Notice explains. Vehicles in your account cannot be deleted, because their estimates and invoices are records we hold, but you can archive them.
2.9 We may suspend or close an account at any time, for example if it is misused, if money owed on it is not paid, or if anyone using it is abusive to our staff. Closing an account does not cancel anything owed on it.
2.10 We do not promise that the account will always be available or free from errors. If it is not working, you can message or email us.
3. Asking for work and our estimates
3.1 You can ask us to price work through your account (the quickest way, as you can add photos and videos), or by message, email or in person. Tell us everything you know about the vehicle and the problem. Our estimate relies on what you tell us and on what we can see.
3.2 We price work as an estimate, set out job by job. Each job shows its parts, labour and anything else it needs. An estimate covers only the work it describes. Anything not described is not included.
3.3 Where the cause of a fault is not known, we first estimate for the diagnosis: the time it takes to look for the cause, for example to put the vehicle on the ramp, read fault codes and test the parts and circuits they point to. The diagnosis is charged whether or not you go ahead with a repair, whether or not the cause is found, and even if the fault does not show while we have the vehicle. A diagnosis gives the most likely cause from the tests carried out; we do not promise that it finds every cause. Some faults come and go, have more than one cause, or only show once a first fault is fixed. Where the only way to confirm a cause is to replace a part, the estimate says so, and that part and its fitting are charged whether or not they cure the fault. A repair carried out on our diagnosis is charged in full even if the fault turns out to have another cause as well; anything more that is needed is estimated separately.
3.4 An estimate is valid until the date shown on it ("valid until"), normally 14 days from the day we send it, up to the end of that day. Until then you can accept any of the jobs on it. After that it can no longer be accepted, unless we agree to accept it at the same prices, and you can ask us for an updated estimate, which may have different prices. We may also extend an estimate at the same prices; if we do, we tell you the new date.
3.5 Until you accept a job, we may correct or withdraw the estimate for it. Once you have accepted a job, its price is agreed, and clauses 8.4 and 8.11 set out how the final bill can differ from it.
3.6 You can withdraw a request for a price at any time before we have priced it. Once we have sent an estimate you do not need to do anything if you do not want the work: you can tell us you are not going ahead, or simply leave the estimate to run out.
3.7 We are not registered for VAT at the moment, so no VAT is charged on our prices. If that changes, VAT is shown on any estimate before you accept it, and the price of work you have already accepted does not change.
3.8 We may decline to price or carry out any work, without giving a reason.
4. Accepting work
4.1 You accept work in your account by ticking the jobs you want, ticking the box to accept these terms, and confirming that you want us to go ahead. You can also accept by telling us by message, email, phone or in person, and we record it for you. However you accept, these terms apply.
4.2 A contract for the jobs you accept is made when you accept them. We confirm it by email, with the deposit due if there is one (see section 5), and the work then appears in your account.
4.3 You can accept some jobs and not others. Telling us you are not going ahead with a job is not final: you can still accept it while the estimate is valid. Jobs accepted later are added to the work, and if your vehicle is already with us they are done on the same visit where possible.
4.4 On a business account only an owner or a manager can accept work, online or by message, email, phone or in person (clause 2.4). If someone else asks us to go ahead, we ask an owner or manager to accept it first. If an owner or manager receives our confirmation of work they did not accept, they must tell us before the work starts; if they do not, the business is treated as having accepted it.
4.5 After you have accepted work we may call it off at any time, for example if the parts cannot be obtained, the vehicle turns out to be unsafe or unlawful to work on or not as described to us, something outside our control prevents us doing it, the deposit has not been paid (clause 5.4), or you have broken these terms. If we call it off for a reason that is not caused by you, we refund what you have paid for work we have not done. Otherwise clause 11.5 applies.
5. Deposits and paying in advance
5.1 When work needs parts ordering, we ask for a deposit when you accept it. The deposit is a percentage of the work you accept, and its amount is shown before you accept and in your account. Work that needs no parts, such as a diagnosis, usually needs no deposit; where it does, the estimate says so.
5.2 What the deposit is for: if the work does not go ahead after parts have been ordered, it covers our costs of ordering, receiving and returning them, such as suppliers' handling and restocking fees, delivery and return postage, and our time. It is a fixed sum agreed in advance; clause 11.5 explains how it is used. Where a job needs a part that cannot be returned once ordered, for example one made, programmed or coded for your vehicle, or a special order the supplier will not take back, the estimate says so, and the deposit for that job can be up to the price of that part.
5.3 We order the parts once the deposit is paid. If we order them before then, clause 11.5 still applies if the work is called off, even though the deposit has not been paid.
5.4 The deposit is due when you accept the work. If it is still unpaid 21 days after you accepted the work, we may call the work off, and clause 11.5 applies.
5.5 Instead of the deposit, you can pay for the work in full in advance, or pay any amount in between. Whatever you pay in advance comes off your invoice when the work is done.
5.6 Until the work is paid for in full, we need your vehicle with us by the date shown as "Car needed by" in your account and in our parts arrived email and text. That date is 21 days after all the parts for the work first arrive, and it does not change if we later change that number of days. Your vehicle is with us once you have handed it to us, or left it and posted its keys in our letterbox on a day you booked. Clause 11.3 explains what happens if it is not with us by then.
5.7 Once the work is paid for in full, we keep the parts until the work is done, there is no date your vehicle has to be with us by, and you can choose or change your drop-off day whenever suits you, within the normal booking window. Paying in full does not fix the final bill: clause 8.4 still applies. If you then call the work off, clause 11.5 applies, including to parts that can no longer be returned.
6. Parts
6.1 We choose the parts we fit. They may be genuine parts, parts of original equipment quality, or other parts suitable for your vehicle.
6.2 Parts we supply stay ours until the work they are part of has been paid for in full.
6.3 We order parts from our suppliers and cannot control their delivery times. We are not responsible for delays in parts arriving.
6.4 If a part arrives wrong or damaged, we send it back and order it again, and the dates in clause 5.6 and section 7 move with it.
6.5 Old parts. If you would like the parts we take off your vehicle, ask us before we start and we leave them for you to take with the vehicle. We cannot give back a part that has to go back to a supplier (for example an exchange unit) or that must be disposed of in a particular way. Parts you do not ask for are recycled or disposed of once the work is done.
6.6 Parts you supply. We may agree to fit a part you supply, but we are not obliged to. A part you supply must be new, correct for your vehicle and in its original packaging. We are not responsible for the part, or for anything caused by it, including a fault in it, the wrong part being supplied, or the part failing after it is fitted. If it turns out to be faulty or unsuitable, we charge for the time it took us to find that out, and estimate for removing it and fitting a replacement. Any warranty on it is between you and whoever sold it to you.
7. Booking in and dropping off your vehicle
7.1 When the parts for your work have arrived (or straight away if none are needed), you can choose your drop-off day in your account, or we can book it for you. The days on offer start a set time after the parts arrive (currently 24 hours) and run for a set number of days (currently 28). Until the work is paid for in full, you cannot book a day later than the date your vehicle is needed by (clause 5.6).
7.2 You can choose:
- a booked day: we set aside time in the workshop for your work on the day you choose. We aim to do the work that day, but it can run on to another day if it takes longer than expected; or
- not urgent: you drop your vehicle off on any day we are open and it is worked on when the workshop has free time. There is no set day for the work, and your vehicle may stay with us for longer than it would with a booked day. You confirm this when you choose it, and we keep a record of what you confirmed.
7.3 You can change your drop-off day in your account up to the day before it. After that, message us.
7.4 We may need to move a booking, for example because of staff illness, a breakdown of equipment, a problem with the parts, or an earlier job taking longer than expected. If we do, we tell you as soon as we can and offer you the next day we can do.
7.5 Leaving your vehicle. You can hand your vehicle and keys to us in person during the times shown when you book. If you choose to leave your vehicle and post the keys in our letterbox when nobody is here, you do so at your own risk: we are not responsible for the vehicle, its keys or anything in it until we have taken the keys from the letterbox. You confirm this when you choose it, and we keep a record of what you confirmed.
7.6 Before you leave it with us, please:
- tell us about anything you know that affects the vehicle or our safety, such as warning lights, leaks, brakes or steering that do not feel right, recent accident damage, modifications, aftermarket alarms or trackers, or faults you have been told about;
- leave the locking wheel nut key with the vehicle if it has locking wheel nuts. If it is missing and we need to remove a wheel, we price removing the nuts and only do it once you agree; removing them can damage them;
- leave enough fuel or charge for us to move and road test the vehicle. If there is not enough, we may add some and charge you what it cost us;
- remove valuables and personal belongings. We are not responsible for anything left in the vehicle. We may need to move items, such as child seats, to carry out the work;
- tell us if the vehicle is not taxed, insured or does not have a valid MOT, as it may stop us road testing it.
7.7 You are responsible for bringing your vehicle to us lawfully. We do not offer collection, delivery or recovery.
7.8 We may record the mileage, take photographs of the vehicle and note its condition when it arrives. If you leave it using our letterbox, that record is made when we take the keys from the letterbox (clause 7.5). We are not responsible for damage, wear or faults the vehicle already had when it arrived, whether or not we recorded them.
7.9 Keep your vehicle insured while it is with us. It stays at your risk while it is with us (clause 12.4).
8. Carrying out the work
8.1 We carry out the jobs you accept, as described in the estimate.
8.2 We cannot promise a finishing time. A booked day is the day we set time aside for your work, and we tell you when your vehicle is ready to collect. A not urgent vehicle is worked on when the workshop has free time.
8.3 Our staff may drive your vehicle on public roads to move it and to road test it before, during and after the work. We may use a specialist for part of a job where it is needed.
8.4 When the final bill can change. Our estimates are priced on the work the job is expected to take. Some problems only show once the work is under way: a part can be seized or too corroded to remove without replacing it, and older vehicles in particular can hide rust and wear that cannot be judged beforehand. When that happens a job can take longer and need extra parts, so the final bill can be higher than the estimate, even if you have paid for the work in full. Before we do extra work like this, we tell you what we have found and what it adds. If you tell us not to carry on, we stop: you pay for the work done and parts fitted up to then, and we put your vehicle back together as far as we safely can (clause 13.8 applies if it cannot then be driven). If we cannot get an answer from you, we finish the job you accepted and the extra is added. If an estimate contains an error, such as a wrong price or a missing part, we may correct it before we start the work; we tell you, and you can accept the corrected price or call the job off. Anything added appears on your invoice as its own item.
8.5 Other faults we find. If we find something that needs doing that is not part of the work you accepted, we do not do it without your agreement. We send you an estimate for it in your account, and you can accept or decline it in the same way as any other estimate. If your vehicle is already with us when you accept it, we add it to the work we are doing.
8.6 Unsafe vehicles. If we find something that makes the vehicle unsafe to drive, we tell you in writing and record it, and we may ask you to confirm that we have told you. Whether to have it put right is your decision. If you drive the vehicle away without the fault being repaired, you do so at your own risk.
8.7 Inspection reports. Where the work includes a service or a health check, we give you a report of what we checked: what needs doing now, what to keep an eye on, and what was fine. It records what we could see and test at the time, without taking anything apart beyond what the check involves. It is not an MOT, a guarantee of the vehicle's condition or a promise that nothing will go wrong later.
8.8 Old and corroded parts. Parts that are worn, brittle or corroded, such as seized bolts, rusted pipes and aged plastic clips, can break when they are moved or removed. Putting that right is extra work under clause 8.4, and is not damage we caused.
8.9 Programming and coding. Some work involves writing to the vehicle's control units, for example keys, modules and remaps. If a unit fails while we program it, repairing or replacing it is not part of the original price; we tell you and give you an estimate for it.
8.10 When we service your vehicle we stamp or update your service record. Whether a manufacturer, or anyone else giving a warranty on your vehicle, accepts our service record is between you and them.
8.11 Other charges. As well as the price of the work you accept and any extra under clause 8.4, we charge for these where they apply:
- removing locking wheel nuts when the key is missing (clause 7.6), which we price and you agree before we do it;
- fuel or charge we add (clause 7.6), at what it cost us;
- work caused by a part you supplied (clause 6.6);
- our costs of returning and reordering a part that was wrong because the information you gave us was wrong, or because your vehicle has been modified;
- a supplier's surcharge where it will not take your old part in exchange for the one we fit;
- storage (clause 13.3), late payment interest and recovery costs (clause 10.5), charges for a reversed payment (clause 10.7), and the costs of an uncollected vehicle (clause 13.6).
9. Particular services
9.1 Car keys. We supply and program spare keys and remotes. To code a key we need the vehicle, photo ID and proof that the vehicle is yours, such as the V5C, plus your existing key if you have one. If you are not the registered keeper, for example of a company or lease vehicle, we also need the keeper's written permission. We will not code a key without that proof. Blade cutting is not always available, and replacing all keys when every key has been lost is only possible on certain models; check with us before you book.
9.2 Remapping. A remap changes the vehicle's engine or gearbox software.
- A remap is a modification. You must tell your insurer, and it may affect a manufacturer's warranty, a finance or lease agreement, or the value of the vehicle. Checking those is your responsibility.
- Before we write a map we carry out pre-map checks. Those checks cannot rule out a fault already developing inside the engine or drivetrain. We are not responsible for the failure of any part after a remap, including a part that was already worn or failing.
- A remap increases the load on the engine, turbo, clutch and gearbox. Parts can wear out or fail sooner afterwards.
- Any figures for power, torque or economy are typical results, not a promise: results vary with the vehicle, its condition and the map chosen.
- Changes that alter or remove emissions or noise equipment (such as DPF, EGR, AdBlue or SCR, swirl flap and cold start deletes, and pops and bangs) are for off-road and competition vehicles only. We carry them out only if the owner confirms in writing that the vehicle will not be used on public roads, and we may refuse any of them. Using a road vehicle with them on public roads can be an offence and will fail an MOT. It is the owner's responsibility to make sure the vehicle complies with the law and is used within it.
- We raise or remove a speed limiter only on a vehicle the law does not require to have one. We do not do it on vehicles that must have one, such as goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, buses and coaches.
- Where we can, we keep a copy of your vehicle's original software and can put the vehicle back to standard on request. We estimate for that before we do it.
9.3 ECU and module repairs. A failed module can sometimes, but not always, be repaired. We do not promise that a module can be repaired, or that a repaired module will not fail again. Testing a module is charged as a diagnosis (clause 3.3).
9.4 Health checks. A health check is a check of the vehicle's battery, tyres, brakes, fluids, lights and the other items on the checklist, reported back to you. It does not include a road test. Nothing is repaired without your go-ahead.
9.5 Tyres. We supply, fit and balance tyres. We may decline to fit a tyre that is damaged, unsuitable for the vehicle, or one you have supplied that we are not satisfied is safe. Wheel nuts should be checked again after the first 50 miles.
9.6 Air conditioning. If your air conditioning has lost its gas, it has leaked. We look for the leak before putting gas back in. If you choose a regas without the leak being repaired, we cannot say how long the gas will last.
9.7 Vehicles we sold you. If you bring us a vehicle you bought from us, the Vehicle Sales Warranty, where it applies to that vehicle, decides what it covers. Any other work is estimated first in the usual way, and section 13 applies to collecting the vehicle once we tell you it is ready.
10. Paying for the work
10.1 When the work is done we give you an invoice in your account. Anything you have paid in advance comes off it.
10.2 Payment for the work is due when the work is finished, and must be made in full before we hand your vehicle back. The due date on your invoice is the day we invoice the finished work. A later due date applies only if we have agreed one for your account, and it is then shown on the invoice.
10.3 You can pay by card in your account, on our card payment provider's secure page (your card details go to them, never to us), by card or in cash when you collect, or by bank transfer. In your account you can pay in parts, each at least the minimum shown there, as long as the invoice is paid in full before we hand the vehicle back. Cheques are accepted only if we agree beforehand, and the vehicle is handed back once the cheque has cleared. We hand the vehicle back once a bank transfer has reached our account; a screenshot, or a message from your bank saying the payment has been sent, is not enough. For bank transfers, we give you our bank details on request; we will never change them by email, so if you are ever told our details have changed, check with us by message on 07356 177303 before you pay.
10.4 Our right to keep your vehicle. We may keep your vehicle, its keys and anything left with it until everything owed for that vehicle has been paid: the work, including any diagnosis, anything added under clauses 8.4 and 8.11, and storage (clause 13.3). If you are a business, we may also keep any of your vehicles that are with us until everything you owe us has been paid.
10.5 If payment is late, we may charge interest on the amount overdue at 4% a year above the Bank of England base rate, from the due date until it is paid, and the reasonable costs of recovering it. If you are a business, we may instead claim the interest and compensation the law allows for late payment of commercial debts. This clause does not apply to an amount being paid under a split payment agreement (clause 10.8).
10.6 If you disagree with an invoice, tell us straight away. You must still pay it in full before you collect your vehicle. If we agree an amount was wrong, we refund it.
10.7 If a card payment is reversed or charged back without a valid reason, the amount is owed again, together with any charge our payment provider makes us pay.
10.8 Paying in instalments is possible only under a separate written agreement signed by both of us. No interest or charges are added to the amount that agreement covers, and it sets out what happens if a payment is late.
11. Calling work off
11.1 Before you accept an estimate there is nothing to call off and nothing to pay.
11.2 Calling work off. You can call off work you have accepted by telling us by message on 07356 177303, by email to [email protected], through your account, or by post. Clause 11.5 sets out what you pay.
11.3 If your vehicle is not with us in time. Until the work is paid for in full, if your vehicle is not with us by the "Car needed by" date (clause 5.6), we may call the work off. If we do, clause 11.5 applies, we cancel any drop-off you had booked, and we tell you.
11.4 When we keep a deposit, we tell you.
11.5 What you pay when work is called off. Whenever work is called off, by you, or by us under clause 4.5, 5.4 or 11.3:
- if nothing has been ordered or done for it, we refund everything you have paid for it;
- if parts have been ordered for it, we keep the deposit, which covers our costs of ordering, receiving and returning them (clause 5.2), and refund anything you paid above it;
- if a part cannot be returned and the estimate said so, or can no longer be returned because of the time it waited for work you had paid for in full, you also pay for that part, and it is yours to collect;
- if work has started, you also pay for the work done and parts fitted up to the time you tell us, and for the time it takes us to put your vehicle back together as far as we safely can.
We take what you owe from what you have paid and refund the rest. If what you owe is more than you have paid, you pay us the difference. If we call the work off for a reason not caused by you, clause 4.5 applies instead.
12. Our responsibility
12.1 If you think there is a problem with our work or with a part we fitted, tell us in writing as soon as you notice it and stop using the vehicle. Bring it to us so that we can inspect it before anyone else works on it. If we agree that the problem was caused by our work or by a part we fitted, we decide how to put it right and do it ourselves. We do not pay for work carried out elsewhere, or for recovery, hire, travel or any other costs.
12.2 The Vehicle Sales Warranty applies only to a vehicle we sell whose sale confirmation says it comes with it. Where a part we fit comes with its maker's warranty, any claim under it is between you and the maker; we give you the details we have.
12.3 We are not responsible for: faults not caused by our work; wear and tear; faults, damage or wear the vehicle already had (clause 7.8); parts you supplied (clause 6.6); parts that break because of their age or condition (clause 8.8); control units that fail while being programmed (clause 8.9); work carried out by anyone else; damage from misuse, accident or neglect; anything left in the vehicle; or anything that happens because the vehicle is driven with a fault, including one we told you about (clause 8.6).
12.4 Your vehicle, its keys and anything in it are at your risk while they are with us, including while left using our letterbox (clause 7.5) and while stored (section 13).
12.5 We are not liable for loss of use of your vehicle, the time it is off the road, hire vehicles, travel, loss of earnings, profit, business or opportunity, or any indirect or consequential loss.
12.6 Our total liability to you for anything to do with a job is limited to the price of that job.
12.7 Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded.
12.8 We are not responsible for delay or failure caused by events outside our reasonable control, such as supplier shortages, severe weather, power or equipment failures, illness or an emergency.
13. Collecting your vehicle, storage and uncollected vehicles
13.1 When your vehicle is ready we tell you by email and text, with the times we are here to hand it back. We hand vehicles back in person; we do not leave keys out for collection.
13.2 When we tell you your vehicle is ready to collect, our email and text give you a "collect by" date: the end of the third day we are open after the day we tell you. Days we are closed do not count towards those 3 days. The same applies when we tell you to collect your vehicle because work on it is not going ahead (for example after a diagnosis, a declined estimate, or work that has been called off), and to a vehicle left with us without work agreed.
13.3 Storage charges. If your vehicle is not collected by the collect by date, a storage charge of £15 a day applies for every day after that date until it is collected, including days we are closed. Each calendar day, or part of one, counts as a day. We invoice storage charges separately, and they must be paid before we hand the vehicle back. They apply in the same way for each day after the collect by date that we keep your vehicle because something owed for it has not been paid (clause 10.4). No storage charge applies while your vehicle is waiting for work you have agreed, including a not urgent drop-off.
13.4 We hand the vehicle to you, or to someone you tell us can collect it. We may ask the person collecting for photo ID and the job reference, and we may refuse to hand it over if we are not satisfied they are entitled to it.
13.5 Uncollected vehicles. If a vehicle has not been collected 28 days after its collect by date, we write to you at the address we have for you, by a postal service that records delivery, and also email and text you. Our letter says where the vehicle is, what is owed for it, and the date on or after which we may sell it if it has not been paid for and collected. That date is at least 3 months after we send the letter or, if you are a business, at least 14 days. We may also write to the registered keeper if that is not you, and to any finance company we know has an interest in the vehicle.
13.6 If the vehicle is still not paid for and collected by the date in our letter, we may sell it or, if it is not worth enough to sell, have it scrapped. Storage charges stop on the date in our letter. We take from the money what is owed for the vehicle: the work, storage, and our costs of the letters, of finding you, and of moving and selling it, and hold anything left over for you. If the sale raises less than you owe, you still owe the difference.
13.7 Keys, documents and anything else left with a vehicle are dealt with in the same way as the vehicle.
13.8 If your vehicle cannot be driven, or cannot lawfully be driven on the road (for example because it has no MOT, tax or insurance), or you have lost its keys, you must still arrange for it to be taken away by the collect by date, for example on a recovery vehicle. Storage charges apply in the same way until it is.
13.9 If someone shows us that they own the vehicle or are entitled to it, for example a finance or leasing company, we may hand it to them. You still owe us everything owed for it.
14. How we contact you
14.1 We contact you about your work by email, by text and in your account. These messages are part of providing the service: they include your estimates, confirmations, reminders about deposits, when your parts arrive and the date your vehicle is needed by, your drop-off day, when your vehicle is ready and the date to collect it by.
14.2 We do not send you marketing. If we ever want to, we will only do so with your agreement.
14.3 Where these terms say something must be in writing, that includes email and messages in your account.
15. Complaints, the law and other important terms
15.1 If you are unhappy with anything we have done, please tell us. Our Complaints page explains how we deal with it.
15.2 These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them.
15.3 If a court decides that part of these terms is unlawful or cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
15.4 If we do not insist on something straight away, or delay enforcing our rights, we can still enforce them later.
15.5 This contract is between you and us. Nobody else has any rights under it.
15.6 We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another business. You may only transfer yours with our agreement in writing.
15.7 These terms and the estimate for the work are the whole agreement between us about it.
15.8 These terms are in English, and we communicate with you in English.
15.9 We may take anything you owe us from any money we owe you, and we tell you when we do. If you are a business, you must pay what you owe us in full, without taking off anything you say we owe you.
