Vehicle Sales Warranty

For a car bought from us whose sale confirmation includes it: 3 months or 3,000 miles, whichever comes first, from the date of sale. Part-exchange cars are sold as seen, without it.

Edition 4, in force from 20 October 2026

This warranty is only for a vehicle bought from Carique Ltd whose sale confirmation says it comes with it. It does not apply to any vehicle sold as seen, including part-exchange vehicles. It covers a listed part that suddenly and unexpectedly fails. It does not cover a car getting older: wear, age, weeps and seeps, corrosion, noise, and parts that still work are not covered. What is covered and what is not is set out below.

What is covered

These parts are covered against sudden, unexpected failure. A part that is not listed is not covered.

Engine
Parts inside the cylinder block and head: pistons, rings, crankshaft, big end and main bearings, rocker assembly, timing chain and gears.
Turbocharger
The turbo unit itself: shafts, bearings, bushes and wastegate.
Gearbox
Parts inside a manual or automatic gearbox: gears, shafts, bearings and selectors.
Clutch
Pressure plate, thrust and release bearing, where the failure is sudden rather than the clutch wearing out.
Differential and drivetrain
Differential gears, pinions and bearings, propshaft, driveshafts and constant velocity joints.
Braking system
Servo, master and wheel cylinders, callipers and valves. Not pads, discs, drums or shoes.
Steering
Steering rack or box, power steering pump, rams and reservoir.
Suspension
Control arms, ball joints and bushes, where one has failed rather than worn.
Wheel bearings and hubs
Wheel bearings, hubs and flanges.
Cooling system
Radiator, water pump, thermostat, heater matrix and head gasket.
Fuel system
Fuel pump, injectors, sender unit, air flow meter and pressure regulator.
Electrics
Alternator, starter motor, motors, solenoids, relays and switches.
Engine management
Engine control unit, ignition coils and sensors that have failed outright.
Air conditioning
Compressor and pump. Not re-gassing, and not a system that is simply low on gas.
Heating and ventilation
Heater assembly, blower motor, vents and controls.
Locks
Door and boot locks, latches, catches and window regulators.
Oil seals and gaskets
Major oil seals and gaskets where they have failed and the car is losing fluid. Weeps, seeps and misting are not covered.
Casings
A casing damaged by one of the covered parts above failing.

What is not covered

  • Anything not named in the list of covered parts. If it is not listed, it is not covered.
  • Wear and tear, age, and parts that still work but are worn, tired or past their best.
  • Weeps, seeps, sweating gaskets, misting and slow leaks that do not stop the part working.
  • Corrosion, rust, perished rubber and anything deteriorated by time or weather, including corroded springs.
  • Noise, vibration, rattles and smells on their own.
  • Service items: oils, filters, spark plugs, auxiliary belts, wiper blades, bulbs and other consumables.
  • Brake pads, discs, drums, shoes and a worn clutch disc or flywheel.
  • Tyres, wheels, glass, bodywork, paint, trim inside and out, carpets and seals around doors and glass.
  • Batteries, keys, remote fobs and anything needing coding or programming.
  • Exhaust systems, catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters, including blocked, empty or missing ones.
  • Wiring, carbon build up, software updates, re-programming, tracking, setting up and diagnosis on its own.
  • Air conditioning re-gassing, satellite navigation media, Bluetooth pairing and other connection problems.
  • Damage from an accident, misuse, neglect, incorrect fuel, contamination, overheating, lack of oil or coolant, or carrying on driving after a fault or warning light appeared.
  • Parts modified or changed from standard after you bought the car, and any fault caused by work done by anyone other than us.
  • Hire cars, recovery, loss of earnings, postage and anything else beyond the repair itself.

What this warranty is

This warranty is given by Carique Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15803929, of Unit 2, Station Lane, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1ND, on a vehicle bought from us whose sale confirmation says it comes with this warranty. It runs for 3 months from the date of sale, which is the day you collect the vehicle, or for 3,000 miles from the mileage when you collect it, whichever comes first, and is valid in the United Kingdom only.

It covers the sudden and unexpected failure of one of the parts listed under what is covered. It is not a service plan, and it is not cover against a used car wearing out.

It does not apply to any vehicle sold as seen, including a vehicle we took in part exchange.

It is for the person or business named in the schedule, and does not pass to anyone who buys the car from you.

It does not cover a failure while the car is being used for hire or reward, such as taxi, private hire or courier work, for driving lessons, or for racing or track days.

This warranty is in addition to your statutory rights, which it does not affect.

What counts as a failure

A failure means a listed part suddenly and unexpectedly stops doing its job because of a mechanical, electrical or electronic fault, and has to be repaired or replaced to work again.

These are not failures, and are not covered:

Wear, age and gradual deterioration, including a part that is simply worn, tired, past its best or coming to the end of its life.

Weeps, seeps, sweating gaskets, misting and any leak that is not losing fluid at a rate that stops the part working.

Corrosion, rust, pitting, perishing and anything that has deteriorated with time or weather.

Noise, vibration, rattles, smells or a part that still does its job but is not as good as new.

A part replaced as good practice while something else is being worked on, or because a manufacturer recommends it, rather than because it has failed.

Anything that has seized through lack of oil, coolant or maintenance, overheated, been contaminated, been modified after you bought the car, been fitted wrongly by someone other than us, or been damaged by an accident, misuse, neglect, incorrect fuel or lack of maintenance.

What we pay

Where we accept a claim we repair or replace the failed part ourselves, with a new, used or reconditioned part as we choose, and pay for that part and the labour to fit it.

Everything claimed under this warranty together is limited to the price you paid for the car.

This is not new for old: we repair or replace a failed part with one of the same kind. If you choose an upgraded part instead, you pay the difference in the price of the part.

Checking a fault that turns out not to be covered, and anything you pay towards a repair, is charged with labour at £60 an hour. We tell you the cost before we start.

How to claim

Stop using the car as soon as you notice the fault. Carrying on driving a car that has failed usually makes the damage worse, and the extra damage is not covered.

Tell us before anything is done, by message to 07356 177303, by email to [email protected], or in person. Repairs arranged without our agreement first are not covered, and we do not pay other garages' bills, quotes or diagnosis charges.

Bring the car to us at Unit 2, Station Lane, Thetford, at your own cost, so we can look at it. We may need to keep it with us while we do. If the car fails far from home, tell us before anything is done: we may, if we choose, agree to another garage doing the repair, and if we do, we agree the cost in writing first.

A failure is covered only if it happens, and you tell us about it, before the warranty ends.

The car has to be taxed, insured and have a valid MOT at the time of the claim, and we may ask to see proof. If the odometer stops working or is replaced, we work out the mileage from your fuel and service records and the vehicle's MOT history.

Keeping the warranty valid

Have the car serviced when it is due, by the date or mileage in the schedule and after that as the manufacturer says, and keep the receipts.

If a service has been missed, we may turn down a claim.

A claim you know to be false, or that you support with anything you know is untrue, ends this warranty.

If something goes wrong

Tell us by message to 07356 177303, by email to [email protected], or by post to Carique Ltd, Unit 2, Station Lane, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1ND, with your registration number and what has happened. Our Complaints procedure at carique.co.uk/complaints explains what happens next.

We use your details to run this warranty and keep them with the sale records, as our Privacy Notice at carique.co.uk/privacy-policy explains.
